Fox, sable, mink, astrakhan… All irresistible… they caress the skin… and with their personal magic make us feel very special letting us experience softness and luxury. They will envelop us this winter… and will bring a unique experience with a common denominator: an impeccable fall. But each fur projects an individual image and, whether dramatic, conservative, bold, sophisticated or glamorous, its reflection is decidedly sensual and feminine.
For the new season, they offer us an aura of mystery as well as traditional presence, ample room for a fitted outfit, an impressive collar if there is a lack of one, from classical shades to an emphasis on browns, whites and blacks. These are skins of beasts that we, the beautiful ones now embrace with pleasure, because they not only offer a modern and elegant style, but also bring touches of sophistication and glamour, and the invincible force of the current fashion.
During our grandmothers’ time, elegant women owned a sensational mink coat; a more casual astrakhan coat; and some also had a cute silver fox jacket… and that’s it! That is not the way it is today… thankfully! We have different jackets and coats for gala occasions... or simply to go with jeans for a day at the stores. Because... everything is possible!
Here, at Rex Fabrics, we do not sell furs, but we are up to date with what is fashionable, and are aware that a sensational fur can always be paired and complemented with out-of-this-world outfits. And with the variety of textures that we offer, we have at your disposal a unique scope of fabrics and textiles for those spectacular pieces that are part of the world of furs. A shaved mink jacket in an intense tone such as emerald, for example, enhances, as never before, a green pantsuit. The result is simply spectacular. Is anyone up to it?
The world of furs today is complex and its variety is endless. It all started when the Fendi sisters placed in Karl Lagerfeld’s hands the design aspect of their fashion house, and this genius changed the fashion world, and, of course, the use of furs. It was then that he created the house logo, with those interesting “F” letters responsible for the first status symbol purse, and he went on with furs, experimenting, not only with mink, sable and fox... but he went searching for others, probably less expensive and just as beautiful. He worked with them as if they were textiles, and created a new style… young… charming… sensual. The rest is history... and… the fur became a necessity, not a luxury!
Today’s jackets, for example, will never go unnoticed, because they come in pretty designs and different lengths. For this winter, RALPH RUCCI chose beautiful colors from the palette of pastel tones, such as peach, yellow, pink, and even a light brick, to create a very modern look and wear over black pantsuits for greater impact.
ROBERTO CAVALLI launched a very daring and youthful style because he used new furs for long coats that have several colors over the black base, creating a very modern look. In LANVIN they combined two-toned fox fur creating a very modern look like when they used grey with red, its natural color, which now offers sports fashion more luxury. At SAINT LAUREN they also opted for lighter tones, and their pink three-quarter length and ample jackets are simply… heaven!
For daytime fashion, LOUIS VUITTON launched precious coats and used a variety of furs. The grey astrakhan’s, though, to be carried especially with a bag in a different fur, such as mink, will be indispensable for the new season. And FENDI, always at the forefront, designed styles out of the ordinary. Gray with white and black will steal the show; because this maison decided to use them, in a very creative way, in attractive coats that combine the mink with fox. For nighttime, there are short coats, which have become very popular because they are very sexy.
ULYANA SERGEENKO launched her coats in the whitest of minks… the non plus ultra of the shades; but if you want to transport yourself to the times when ermine was patrimony only of kings and queens, then look for VALENTINO and his cape coats. We assure you that “you will reign” any where you wear it.
Another two wonderful options are the dark brown tops launched by Dominican OSCAR DE LA RENTA, that combined with skirts made out of very fine leather will be delicious selections for this Winter season, which we won’t mind whether it is long and cold. And, of course, we cannot forget the dresses of my friend VALENTIN YUDASHKIN for the cocktail hour, who designed them in the most exquisite shaved mink in grey, adding embroidered details in front of same-color stones and a huge silver fox in the cuffs. They are simply the epitome of unexpected and understated elegance. Is it not marvelous to be a woman in the XXI Century? Of course!
