Tattersall describes a particular plaid pattern that is woven into a cloth. The design consists of regularly spaced stripes repeated in both the warp and weft, forming two sets of squares.
From Cosmos bunch 903 – 417.518 (18) 75% Worsted Wool 15% Silk 10% Linen 230 gr / 7.5 oz
The stripes are usually contrasting colors and are generally woven onto a lighter ground shade.

The cloth pattern takes its name from the Tattersall’s horse market which was started in London in 1766. The Tattersall’s horse market blankets all featured this distinctive checked pattern that we now call Tattersall.

Today, Tattersall is still used by horseback riders in formal riding attire but it is now a very casual chic design choice for modern jackets, vests, shirts, and even trousers.
