The instrument opposite to imitation is creation, considered as a formal conception born from the lace-maker artist’s imagination.

Creativity has been a source of immense wealth for the production of designs and images in ornamentation; and feeling is one of the driving forces that induces the artist into the creation of her work.  However, in the world of lace, the features of creativity are very varied and are based on fluency, originality, elaboration, invention, analysis and even communication.

These different aspects make reference to the art of the lace, because the creating capacity has been measured by personality features or factors, and they have been studied by Psychology and defined as a phenomenon of human thought in a diverging or multi-lineal manner.

The fluency in the process of the lace makes reference to the productivity or amount of designs that form this artistic sector.  This factor is very well defined in the art of lace because of the large number of goods that have been elaborated through the centuries, because of the amount of images that they have adorned, number of techniques and different procedures.  However, the flexibility is reflected in the variety, in designs, compositions, combinations of techniques, and reasons that lead to different results.

The originality in lace is represented in the sanctuary art, in the products that are their most ingenious response, taking into consideration the limitation that textile or metallic fabrics represent when they are presented to the state of filament.  Lace has represented, within the art, a revolution with simple threads that are combined and lead to an artistic creation, that still does not count on a true valuation of this art.

Its production requires great precision and great attention to detail.  Any of its genders requires time, design, re-encounter of the threads, great patience to achieve one of the most laborious sanctuary arts.

The invention of lace has always been manifested in the fantasy of its creations, in the different artistic points to create images and artistic and decorative compositions; and it is here where the analysis and communication comes into place, centering itself on rules, tracing, techniques that the lace-maker should constantly analyze and handle in order to exercise her artistic project.
