Fine Fabrics from Around the World
Dry Feet or pique: It is generally used for anti-transpiring sportswear.

Silk Dupion: Natural silk with texture and shine. Because it is wild silk, it wrinkles, however, that is where its elegance stems from.

Duvetyne: Soft and lightly furry fabric, usually one-colored. It is used to make shoes like slippers, dolls and blankets.

Lace: Weave formed by threads of silk, cotton, linen, gold or silver, or string plaitings, slip stitches or openwork with diverse motifs. It is used for dresses, lingerie, accessories.

Falla: Fabric with firm texture and lots of body and hangs well, with rigorous silk and rayon weave.

Felt or Friselina : This fabric is not obtained on a loom made of threads and rows, but rather it is made up of fibers set in all directions and adhered to each other. It has plenty industrial use, and it is also used for the manufacturing of simple bags and accessories.

Flannel: Soft, with a satin surface that almost voids out the texture of the weave. A faded finish. It will shrink if not treated.

Gabardine: Diagonally corrugated and resistant worsted or cotton weave . It has a well-defined finish, dense, durable weave, resistant to wear and tear. Difficult to iron, shines with use. It is used for women’s dresses and men’s suits, coats, raincoats, uniforms and men’s shirts.

Gauze or muslin: Thin and transparent fabric made from very loose weaved silk wherein some of its threads form undulations. It hangs very well. It is frequently used to make drape dresses, ruffles and shawls, and for very full skirts.

Gazar : It is very thin, but it has a perfect fall for a very long skirt with a train. They come in different thickness, although the texture always feels soft to the touch.

Georgette: A fine and delicate weave of natural silk that can accept different print embroiders. It is well-defined, thin and longwearing. It is used to make blouses, dresses, etc.

Guipure or valenciennes: A dense, thick, and solid lace, embroidered on tulle, with ribbons and stones, pearls or crystal applique works.

Hipora: Similar to gorotex, it is an mpermeable fabric that allows for ventilation. It is used for sportswear, raincoats for windy or cold places.

Canvas: Coarse resistant fabric made of pure cotton threads or mixed with polyester. It comes from Olonne, a Maritime French town. It is used for pants, slippers, etc.

Denim: Blue, brown or dark gray, high torsion weave, for work clothes. Thick, Thin and unbleached. Pants, hats, uniforms, bedspreads, upholstery and sportswear are made with this fabric.
Mikado: A thick natural silk, with a very lightly granulated texture.
