Johanna Ortiz is a talented designer from Cali, who studied Design at the Art Institute in Fort Lauderdale and later specialized herself at Parsons School of Design in New York.
Johanna is an entrepreneur with social sensitivity. Together with her partner, she has been the creator of a design brand for shirts, and whose purpose has been to help children from the Siloe neighborhood in Cali, Colombia. Johanna Ortiz’s fashion looks for a social sense that could bring an equilibrium before the social inequality of her homeland.
The commitment of these young Colombian women is to search for new challenges as part of the social component of the company they created three years ago. Some of their brand garments, called Pink Filosofy, are elaborated within a work scheme that they call “Famitalleres” (“Family workshops”), which allow for mothers who are head of the household to work from their homes.
Outside of this social context, this designer from Cali has participated in the 2012 Cali Expo Show, with great colorful atmosphere on the runway, where female silhouettes showed attractive designs with moving and flowing fabrics.
Johanna discovered the world of design through her passion for fabrics, which have always seemed fascinating to her from both the artistic and industrial point of view. She discovered that she was good designing and executing, and she learned more about subjects like pattern design. Since then, she has immersed herself on that discipline in her collections, which always draw attention.
Johanna carried out an interesting exhibition called “encounter with Isis, Aphrodite and Venue” as a tribute to women’s femininity, fertility, and beauty through these figures. The designer introduced a collection with asymmetric, light silhouettes, that accentuate the figure, but offers a unique lightness through its fabrics. Dresses and skirts are, undoubtedly, leaders of the wardrobe. Her low-cut mark out the legs, the bust and the feminine waists with precise cuts that contribute to create a seductive effect without falling into excess. The fabrics that are used are chiffon, charmeuse, taffeta and acetates that are lost within overlapping layers. Colors are very important for this designers who chose neutral shades like skin and sand to contrast with orange, turquoise and violets as leaders of her runway.
