The COVID-19 pandemic is currently on its verge, and many medical experts have suggested prevention as a far better solution than cure. Prevention from coronavirus is pretty simple and requires a person to wear a certain type of medically approved mask whenever they leave their house, a pair of gloves preferably, and keep themselves sanitized at all times. The ‘stay at home’ campaign these days is considered as the best way to prevent this virus from spreading further. One does not need to wear a mask and other wearables if they aren’t leaving their house and avoiding contact with others, as this virus majorly spreads from person to person.

N-95 masks are the most appropriate category of masks that are medically approved to prevent the spreading of coronavirus effectively. However, ever since this virus started to spread rapidly and gradually became a pandemic, the demand for these masks rose substantially, and the supply vanished. But here’s a silver lining to it. You can make your own DIY mask that will cover your face in such a way that you’ll be protected against this virus to a great extent.
Here is how you can create your own DIY fabric face mask, especially if you’re residing in Miami, near a Miami fabric store.
Required objects
- A cotton material that is tightly and finely knit
- Hair ties or rubber bands
Assembly
- Cut the cotton material, preferably from a t-shirt, so that you can obtain a 7-8 inches strip
- Fold the material from bottom and top toward its middle part to obtain a mask-like shape
- Wrap the rubber band or hair tie at both ends, leaving a little part of the cloth at both ends so that it obtains the shape of a candy wrapper
- Fold the leftover piece of cloth at both ends across the rubber bands or hair ties and stitch it
There you go! Your own DIY fabric face mask is ready. You can put the bands over each ear to wear it. Make sure that it is tight enough to cover most of your face.
