Fire-resistant fabrics are very special because they have very specific characteristics, but within this type of textile, there is a classification. Fire-resistant fabrics for upholstery and linings, and fire-resistant fabrics for garments.
Fire-resistant fabrics used to make garments try to offer extra protection. This is why that the majority of work suits (especially those for dangerous jobs) are made from this textile. Fire-resistant fabric is made up of fibers resistant to temperatures, however, they should not only protect the worker, but they should also offer the workers with the necessary comfort so that they may perform their duties.
Fire-resistant fabrics are mixed with natural threads to which a fire delay is applied. Occasionally, the threads are made up of a hardly inflammable roughage. How is this fiber achieved? Thankfully, by adding a mass of a halogen-free agent to the threads. This way, the fibers do not generate drops of fusion when meeting with fire. Fire-resistant fabrics not only protect us from heat and flames, but they are also stain resistant, and that is why they cannot be affected, making them easy to wash.
All textiles with these characteristics shall comply with the required and established safety rules. That is the reason why each garment comes with a certificate of approval.
The mixture of the fire-resistant fabric with wool-like threads offers an excellent result in clothes as well as in upholstery. Adding a fire-resistant agent to the fiber mass guarantee us a permanent garment, regardless of the amount of times washed. It has been proven that fire-resistant fabrics give out white smoke when faced by the direct action of fire, but these are low density and non-toxic smoke, they do not contain halogen nor carbon monoxide. Also, this fabric does not contain inflammable nor melt-down remains, therefore, it complies with the international safety rules. Pants, aprons, track suits, overalls, jackets and even sweaters are all manufactured today with these textiles.
At our store REX FABRICS you will find this type of fabric to make specialized suits.
