Overhunted in the 1960s for its fleece, a protection program in Peru now ensures the resurgence of the Queen of the Andes. Today, Vicuñas roam freely in small groups in their natural territory.

Each Vicuña produces only 300 grams of wool per harvest. The fiber is gathered via a government-sanctioned “Chaccu” (every 3 to 4 years) to ensure the protection of these beautiful animals.
